The brake drum is a kind of iron casting with the shape similar to the bell drum. 1. The brake drum is made of cast iron, so it is wear-resistant, but after all, it is brittle. If it is worn for a long time, it will become thinner, cracked and broken, which will not only lead to brake failure, but also fly up and hurt people.

2. Overload. When the truck is overloaded, frequent braking will lead to adhesion or poor heat dissipation, which will affect the braking effect. Therefore, most of the current large trucks have been refitted, either adding a dripping device or installing a "brake king". Although these two devices can increase the braking effect for the overloaded truck, they can also directly accelerate the cracking of the brake drum.

3、 The brakes are hot, the water tank. In many high-speed downhill sections, a water pool will be designed on the hillside to cool down the temperature of the brake drum. If the temperature of the brake drum is too high, it is easy to crack if it enters the water pool directly, or even explode if it is serious.

4. Don't pay attention to inspection normally. Some careless drivers usually don't pay attention to the situation of their brake drum. When maintaining the car, they should pay more attention to the thickness of the brake drum and whether there are too serious cracks.

In addition, the abnormal braking force causes the wheel to lose a lot when it rubs against the ground, which will cause the tire to be worn off, out of round and steel wire leakage, and the service life will not reach the design mileage. It is more dangerous to carry out continuous braking operation when going downhill. The brake drum will be seriously damaged and even cause the brake system to overheat and the vehicle to burn!
